Suggestions for Jan

I thought I read a post by Jan that said she was back and looking for suggestions. But I can't find the thread. So Jan, I'm posting my suggestion here.

I would like a few pointers on how to have a smooth transition from one paragraph to another, especially when writing non-fiction. I guess it could be also applied to fiction as well. I looked at the previous topics you covered, and unless I missed it, I couldn't find that specific topic.

I hope I've posted this in the right place. :D

Thanks,

Lillian

Thanks, Lish. You did indeed read that I'm looking for suggestions, but the post got buried under some previously locked posts. I'll take care of that tomorrow, when I get my moderator hat back on.

Thanks for the suggestion--I welcome that and any others you may have!

Anyone else care to chime in?

How to add descriptions without dragging down the story, especially in a scene with dialogue. Setting the scene requires some description, and introducing characters requires history, but how do you give enough while moving the plot forward?
