At first thought, I didn't think that any of my challenge entries could fit within the four examples. But perhaps this one could be considered melancholy...with a twist (of silver lining :D ).

This is weak, I know, but it might have a little atmosphere.

Lake Michigan is angry. She hurls snow capped waves at the ice coated boulders on my beach. Her howling protest screams, “I hate winter.” Squalls of temper tantrums try to shake free from the shackles of her frigid tormentor.
I live in the coastal village of Lake Effect Misery…

I have got to jump in here sometime and keep forgetting to 'come to class' - I hope I don't get demerits for this. hehe

Atmosphere... okay, I'll give it a go.

Bright colored streamers of orange, yellow, and green that hung from the tree branches danced on the breeze. Jubilant music drifted from the speakers on the patio which was overflowing with laughing children as they swayed and giggled in time with the music.

Linda walked into the dark room feeling edgy but it wasn't until she reached the dining room when fear hit her hard, for in the middle of the room was a tall, booding man whose eyes pierced through the darkness like small burning coals.....

Yikes, Toni! I sure don't want to live in the same atmosphere as Linda...

It occurs to me that you might want the "back lessons" that got caught in the meltdown of the message boards several months ago. You've got the responses to the lesson, but not the lesson itself...if you'd like them, PM me with your e-mail address and I'll send you the document right away.

Thank you..

Hi Jan,

I don't have PM but if you like you can email the lesson to me at: [edited by mod to remove e-mail addy]

Thanks a bunch, for that would help so much...

Toni, I'll send them right away.

FYI, FaithWriters has 2 different PM services; the one that you pay for, and the one here on the forums, which is free to everyone. You access it by clicking the little PM button at the bottom of anyone's posts. I'll send you a PM, and you'll see what the e-mail that you'll get looks like.

And after I send your document, I'll delete your e-mail addy from this post, so it's not so public.

Many thanks!

I wanted to thank you again for your reply on "PM Messenger" and for deleting my email address.

Much appreciated! And again, many thanks for sending the Forum information on "suspense."
