WHY CAN'T I DO THIS?

Why is it I try to write,
But my mind is so uptight,
I can't find the rhyme
That fits just right.

Sad attempt but I keep rhyming everything, I'll have to keep practicing this.

Not a sad attempt at all, Jodie--you got it exactly right this time--I, try, write, my, mind, find, right....every one of those words has the same vowel sound. And it's perfectly fine if some of them also rhyme.

Jodie, the new Assonance Queen. Too bad that doesn't sound, I dunno, nicer.

I really hope I wasn't muttering to myself as I jotted notes in my pocket notebook at Target tonight. Here goes....

Atonement

Alone
He knelt alone
While close to those disciples so devoted

Divided
Heart aching
Does he take the cup he’s facing
or refuse. Covenant breaking.

United
With the faithful as the Vine
He grasps the cup and drinks the wine
And wakes his friends, for it is time

In the grove His life for us He thus devoted
Kneel at His throne

Alone

Pat--yes, and I'm definitely intrigued by the set-up there....

That's because I don't know what I'm doing. I do deliberately use sounds, but then, using sounds just seems to happen also as I write. So that's probably why the set-up and all seems 'intriguing.'

But this class is fascinating ... thank you so much for taking the time to do these, Jan.
