Day 2 & 3 - Praise/Promise/Prayer/Precept

Postby trudynewell » Sun Feb 03, 2013 5:39 pm

Hi - sorry about the typos and also the missed 'Day' yesterday. BUT, the great news is I completed all the paperwork for the mission/churches, etc. that were due in January. This last one I worked on yesterday took quite a bit of time.

I didn't realize that there were scirpture links - that's great. However I will probably continue to put them in. First, it is such a blessing to me. Second, because of the nature of this devotional - It is really the main part of this study. Blessings -

DAY 2

PRAISE TO PONDER

Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all His benefits. Psalm 103:2

What 'benefits can you praise the Lord for?
Look at Psalm 103:1-5 and list the specific things that David mentions.

PROMSIE TO PROVE

You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trust in You. Isaiah 26:3

How would you describe perfect peace?
What do you think it means to be kept in peace?
How can you keep your mind fixed on the Lord?
What is the relationship between our thoughts and trusting the Lord?

PRAYER TO PRESENT

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory
may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation
in the knowledge of Him.
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened,
That you may know what is the hope of His calling,
what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.
and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe,
according to the working of His mighty power.
Ephesians 1:17-19

Who can you pray this prayer for today?
Why does our understanding need to be enlightened?

PRECEPT TO PRACICE

Be anxious for nothing,
But in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving,
Let your requests be made know to God;
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding,
Will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6,7

Why is it wrong to worry?
What should you replace worry with?
What is beyond our understanding?
What guards your heart? See also Col. 3:15

DAY 3

PRAISE TO PONDER

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable are His judgements and His ways past finding out.
Romans 11:33

What does this verse tell us about God's wisdom and knowledge?
How, then, can we understand God?

PROMISE TO PROVE

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God,
Who gives to all liberally and without reproach,
and it will be given him. James 1:5

Where does wisdom come from?
How does this give us encouragement to come to God for wisdom?
How do we need to ask?
What is God's promise?

PRAYER TO PRESENT
(Meanwhile praying also for me)
That God would open to (me) a door for the word,.....
(Pray that my) speech always will be with grace
Seasoned with salt,
That (I) may know how (I) ought to answer each one.
Colossians 4:3,6

How has God opened up opportunities for us to share the Word?
What can we learn about using our tongue from these verses?

PRECEPT TO PRACTICE

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom,
Teaching and admonishing one another
In psalms, and hymns and spiritual songs,
Singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Colossians 3:16

How can we allow God's word to live in us?
Outside of uplifting the Lord, what two things are a result of our worship?
How are we to worship the Lord?

Well - trust this will encourage your heart. I tried to catch all the typos, etc. :D
