I'd like to add another friend to the prayer request.
Mary Magdala has a degree in education, but times are tough, and she's been homeless awhile. She was there when I was at Isaiah House, and occasionally she sleeps on our sofa. We wish we could have her replace another roommate, Cookie, who has been in rehab since August with a broken back (non-paralyzed), but Mary has no income. I just found out this morning that the Salvation Army Hospitality House, where I stayed a week (maximum stay) before I went to Isaiah House has been converted into a men-only shelter.
What were they thinking? They're supposed to be a Christian organization!
Anyway, the armory won't be opening for a few weeks yet--usually open around Thanksgiving to Easter or thereabouts--and some people just aren't made for the street, which is where Mary is living. Can't blame her for leaving the drama of Isaiah House, though, but still....! Pray she lowers her standards in looking for a job--get a fast-food job or something--so she can afford to live with us. Last time she was here about two weeks ago, she said she had a job interview, but I guess it didn't pan out.
