My thanks to the judges for seeing the good in my story and not taking offence. I have been delighted by the enormous number of comments I have received, indicative that this hard-hitting message about HIV has touched a chord with many people.

And finally a word to the weary and discouraged. This being the results for week seven, I would like to point out that this is the first time this quarter that I have made it to the top fifteen in my level, never mind the fact that I secured an EC. Granted, I didn't enter on two occasions, but I have had week after week of looking up the results on Friday only to find that my name didn't feature in the top fifteen. As many of you will be able to appreciate, not only is it frustrating and disheartening but the temptation is to give up and stop writing entirely. So if you're reading this and feeling similarly discouraged, remember this - no one has any right to be placed. You earn that place by hard work, continual self-improvement, stubbornness and sometimes (in my case anyway) just a little bit of luck.

Keep the faith. Keep on writing.
Gregory Kane

Congratulations to all the winners. Yippee for you! I have lots of reading to do. I didn't enter for this past week (before and after) because of being on a road trip but I'm looking forward to reading your highly honored stories.

P.S. Thanks Gregory for those words of encouragement. I almost didn't enter this week's contest (dark and light) as a result of being discouraged. It's wasn't because of not winning but I just haven't received a lot of yellow boxes lately. I changed my mind and with forty-five minutes until deadline, I began writing the story and submitted it with five minutes to spare. Usually, it takes me several days to write a story so as soon as I hit the submit button, I had instant regret. Your words of encouragement came at a good time.
