And Karlene, if that was your first draft, you truly are gaining skill--that was an excellent first draft.

I also have learned so much about the world. It's been "broadening" experience.

Again--Congratulations to all the winners!
No Lisa, that was NOT my first draft. All the other weeks had been because of the lateness of the hour in the challenge week. That is my point. See how well it did, working the story like clay in the hands of a potter?

What a wonderful surprise to wake up to! Although my story is fiction, the places are real and the descriptions based on friends and acquaintances who suffered and died from AIDS while we lived in South Africa. It's a topic really close to my heart and I'm so thrilled to have come first with it.

What A Week!!!! WOWOWOWOWOWOWEEEEE (I have no idea how that would actually sound if spoken  ) CONGRATS Everyone!!

Big, big shout outs to CONNIE!! Way to Go Girl (and I'm way curious, do you indeed move up next week?)

Awesome Job CAT!!! That story was breathtaking and I'm so glad it won - a difficult read, but that was purely topic related, the writing was suberb.

And Special Way to Go's to KARLENE!!!! Yee stinking Haw girl. Great Job.

Wow, great winners list.

Wow - I placed again! I am so glad I entered for the Africa challenge. My story is personal - I know the couple mentioned very well; so it was a pleasure to write the story.

 .....sorry, I don't know how to do that cool box quotey thingy!!!!

Thanks to all for your heartfelt congrats. I really appreciate it.

I believe you have to have 3 EC's before you move to Masters. This was my second. I of all people know I am not ready for Masters, but I hope someday to get there.

Hi Connie,

That cool box quotey thingy is either done by hitting "quote" in the upper right corner of the posting you wish to quote, or by using the bbl code in your reply. The quote box is toggled by the quote command, shown here by disabling BBCode in this reply:

[quote]Whatever text you wish to quote in your reply, which can be someone else's reply, a Bible verse, or an excerpt from someone's story, or a really cool thing Mark Twain once said, or a terrible run-on sentence with a bunch of things you can possibly quote in your reply.[/quote]

When you hit the little quote icon in the upper right corner, does the screen automatically take you to a reply box? If so, you shouldn't have to do anything else, other than make sure you begin typing after the final [/quote].

Make sure, as well, that you do NOT have "Disable BBCode in this post" checked below the reply window, and that your default preferences allow BBCode in your replies.

If you click "Profile" at the top of this screen, it will take you to your profile page. About 2/3 down that page will be "Preferences". For the cool quote thingy to work, you'll need to have "Always allow BBCode" checked. This also allows you to italicize, bold, underline, and Embed Links in your posts, among other spiffy features.

I really wish there was another place to do this so not everyone would see how many times this is taking. It is humbling!

:bow YEAH!!!!!! It worked! Thanks to both of you!
