Hey Deb,

I just want to make sure I understand when the last date is to enter this contest. Is it the 31st? I can't believe we have this many entries so far for this year. That's amazing. I'm asking this because I'm having someone review my entry in case I need to make any last corrections on it before entering. That's why I was wanting to be sure I understand this correctly. Thanks Deb. I appreciate it!

Midnight, October 31. Less than a week to go now.

Actually, there are about 9 more to add to the list. I've not had a chance to update it yet. This is quite normal for this time of the year. The rush always happens in October.

Is this the biggest number of entries we've had to date, Deb? I know of at least 3 others who haven't submitted yet, too. Cool to see so many participating!

Amy, if we hit 50, then that would definitely be the biggest. I can't quite remember, but I think we've had about 46 or 47 for Fiction in the past. Not really sure, but it is definitely a great roll up. Lovely to see.

It always makes me chuckle when there are virtually no entries all year, then a rush in the last couple of weeks.

I *think* this year's might be a new record, by the time those last minute entries get in.

I checked the old forum postings--just for the fiction entries (not non fiction) so that was '07 and '09, previously. I couldn't find a final tally for 2007 (probably due to the server meltdown / loss of posts a while back), but did find where Deb posted the following 2 days before entries closed. (They closed June 30 that year):

At this stage, there are around 39 entries, which I think is fantastic. I know of at least two or three that are still to be submitted, so all up, there will probably be around 42 or so in this year's Page Turner.

I'm really thrilled with that. It's enough for a great competition.

Then, I looked up 2009's final fiction entries tally. It was 44, so I'd say there's a good chance of a new record this year.

I'm pulling for 50+! Wouldn't that be great?
