And the judges are....

Post by Cynthia »

Who judges the page turner contest? Is it done by the same group who judge the challenges or is there an agent/editor group that judges....

If this information is posted somewhere, I apologize for asking.

Blessings.

Cynthia, it's a publisher/editor's decision. I was originally going to use a team to do it, but as I'm putting both my business and FaithWriters' name behind the winner, I wanted to make sure it was the one that I would have chosen to publish.

So to answer your question, I'm it.

LOL @ Pat.

Actually, I know I'm totally impartial. The first year was the test for that. JC had already approached me about editing her manuscript, and it would have been worth a bit to do it. So when I rated and judged all the entries, I cringed slightly when I realized that the absolute best had to be JC's. It was brilliant.

She deserved to win, but it shot me in the foot as far as work goes. I did all that editing for her for free as part of her prize.

Basically, it all comes down to an editing/publishing perspective. I look at the entries and weigh up the publishing potential for each. That's where Cori's blitzed it last year. The topic is a hot, fresh one. I'm really looking forward to editing it when she finishes the manuscript.

Oh, man, Deb. I thought I got an honorable mention because we're friends, not because the writing was good. :P

Honestly, the thought crossed my mind that if I win or get another runner-up this year, people may actually think you ARE being partial. I truly considered not entering because of that. Not because I think you WOULD be (Believe me, I know you and I know you don't have a cheating bone in your body) but because it might look that way to other members. Of course, I suppose it would be the same if Vile placed or won again and I know she's entering something (at least, I think I remember her saying she is).

Deb is the fairest person I know. In fact, she's so fair, you can call her Snow White. (You'll get that one in a minute). Groan.

I wondered, too, if there were any other judges involved, so thanks for asking the question.

I thought I read somewhere last year that all entrants would receive some type of feedback on their entries. Perhaps I misunderstood something because I didn't receive any feedback (and that was part of the reason I entered).

Believe me... Deb is not the only one who knows how good you write. I don't think anyone would doubt any award you ever get. I know, at least, that I wouldn't.
I had something really memorable to write here but I forgot what it was.

It's coming, Laurie. I've got it on my to do list, and hope to get it started very soon. Although not indepth, it will give a bit of input which may be helpful to everyone.
