page turner contest countdown 2009

Post by punkin »

Hey all! Just happy to be able to enter! Didn't think I would even finish my first chapter after all the revisions of it. I am just hoping I at least get a good critique out of it. All I want to know is if I am on the right track. Personal stories can be hard to write about sometimes. I never realized that until I started writing this book.

I had also promised myself I wouldn't start on another one till this one is done but already working on it. Funny how that happens. My first book is called "Katie's Willingness To Forgive" and the second one that I am working on for next years contest is "The Sin's Of A Preacher's Wife."

I am working hard to finish my second chapter but have not gotten there yet. Still in working progress!

I found you...

I was able to get my 85,000 word novel down to 700 wds. I might be able to whittle a little more away.

Karlene,

That was hard for me to. I had a hard time putting the right words together and still making it make sense! Good Luck to everyone!

As far as the synopsis goes, just give an overview of the storyline. It doesn't have to be too involved. We just want to see if the promise of the first chapter is going to be fulfilled in the overall storyline. In other words, where are you going with the story?

Oy... this is heavy. I have what I want in my mind, but trying to lead into the entire story in one chapter is a lot harder for this one because it wasn't on my mind for years like Raggedy was.

2009 Page Turner Entry Tallt

Post by punkin »

Deb--

I know the date has passed now for page turner contestants. Can you put an update on the boards as to total enteries and a reminder of when you will notify us.

Just a heads up - Deb is extremely busy, so if she doesn't reply right away, it's only because she has a TON going on right now. Just have to be patient :)

My hand is of course raised on this one! Ha Ha He He!!!

Can hardly stand to wait two more months to know!
Just would be nice to see an update of some sort!
Thanks

Hey, Deb - I see you're quite busy, so I'll make this brief! Got a friend, Allen Stark, who submitted his entry. He said it was a couple weeks ago, but hasn't heard from you, so he's concerned, especially with the deadline so close. I told him I would post a message here and see what I could find out.
Thanks!

Just a reminder here that there are just ten days left until entries close for this year's Page Turner Contest.

Believe me, this is a contest worth entering. So if you have a first chapter ready, and you are a 500 member (or about to become a 500 member) don't let nerves or doubt put you off. It's an old saying, but you have to be in it to win it. Apart from that, just the act of getting a synopsis and first chapter ready may be enough to get that long-dreamed of novel out of your head and down on "paper".

(Always feel kind of silly saying paper these days.)

Anyway, don't put it off. Ten days to go, and then (God and FaithWriters/Finesse finances willing) it will be another 14 months until we have another fiction contest.

Christy, we don't notify everyone once the winner is determined. The winner is announced here on the message boards and on a Page Turner winner page at FaithWriters on the 1st December.

So basically, once entries close, everyone has just a month to wait for the big announcement.
