I suppose cutting it by about 86% is a "bit". :)

500 words.

Oh come now, we get 750 with the Weekly Challenge. I was able to cut it back to 2800.

This is gonna be harder than the book was. :|

LOL ... the 500 words is a bit of a guideline (not set in concrete), but keep snipping, Pup. Try to at least get it down to Challenge length at most.

Basically, you just need to give a brief overview of the storyline so there's a way to tell whether the promise of the first chapter is going to be fulfilled in the overall plot.

I tried to submit, but it told me the chapter was the incorrect file format.

Funny; it says it needs an MS Word document, and I was trying to upload an MS Word document, written and saved in MS Word, and ending in the .doc extension. Is there something I'm missing here?

Amend: Tried changing the file name to a single word title, and it took. Not sure if that did it, or if it was something to do with trying to submit from the work computer.

I've got the bones of my first chapter built, now I'm going back and fleshing out before I move on.

I'd love to try this, but I don't know that I've ever even written a fiction piece much longer than the challenge length! Maybe 1000 words, but that's about it. I don't have any ideas that would fill a novel either, I don't think. I just don't know that I'm cut out for novel writing. lol

If you've ever had a good time with an imaginary friend, you're cut out for writing a ficiton novel.

8) Actually, I could enter mine now...but it's still a loooooooong way off. That and I've gotta check how many you can enter. I've got another story swimming around up there...okay, more than one, but you know how it goes...

I can't actually remember what I wrote for the rules  but I think it is one entry per 500 member. I'll have to go and check that.....

Back again. Yes, it's one entry per 500 member. I think I did that to avoid the possibility (even if remote) of having one person enter three mindblowing manuscripts and take all three awards.

I'll post the rules in the forum here so everyone can see them without any hassles.
