Help! and may be important for UK co-op bank members

I was at a conference last week and the access to my internet was very difficult. Somehow faithwriters could not bill me - the bank had some wierd problem over the weekend which MAY have been why. I tried to put it right this morning but the site could not find my account details for the platinum area. Then the bank put a mark on my card to push payment through and the site updated my details but there is still no access to the platinum area.

For anyone living in the UK the problem if it was the problem relates to some sort of fraud check the co-operative bank did so it may be worth checking if you are with them that your faithwriters payment went through ok this month.

What a headache for you, Jacky.

It can take 24 hours for Scott to confirm a payment has been made and then activate the account. If it's still not switched on by tomorrow, contact him direct via the contact form at FaithWriters here:

http://www.faithwriters.com/corp-contact.php

If the payment has been made, though, it should be sorted out by them.

I got yet another email showing the problem was not sorted today and went into the bank. They rang the fraud squad and said they had been looking at my account. I have no idea why but every time I go to a hotel or buy a meal in another town I have problems. I don't know what did not happen yesterday but now they are saying that they have done something to let the payment through by midnight today- which will work if the site takes the money by then, I think. They are now saying it is a site problem and not theirs but it is the bank that keeps refusing to honour the payment.......well, let's see what happens overnight! So annoying as I need to view a critique.

Too weird, and a bit spooky too with that sort of response from the bank.

I think there's a way to pay for it by PayPal, so maybe that would be easier (I could be wrong about that). Might be worth checking with Scott.

Deb,

The bank are now saying there is no reason at all from their side the payment should not have gone through and that the problem lies with the site. I have now spent a fair amount of time going into and talkng to the bank and also emailed Scott- no reply as yet. I am not able to use my paypal account as I still do not have it set up right.

Last month I was able to sign up for the platinum with no trouble with the card I am using and this needs to be the account my money comes out of.

If the bank are putting markers on the card to ensure the payment goes through and I still get the error 530 do not honour thing then I suspect it is the software the site is using- I might be wrong but maybe it does need to be checked?

I have never had a problem using mycard on the site before, and my payment to websitedynamics for my website - which I believe is also associated with Scott's endeavours went through on the same card with no trouble.

Jacky, I'll point Scott over in this direction, although he should respond to your message soon. It's really odd (although I have nothing to do with that side of FaithWriters). The thing is that if it's happening to you, it should be happening to everyone. That's what's so strange.

What a headache for you, though.

Good point Deb, but the bank is adamant.....Kinda frustrating.

No progress at all. I think the only thing I can do is sign up again using my other bank card but it could cause the same problem as it is the same type and bank. I went into the bank yesterday and they claim that NO claim was made on my card at all when they last put the mark on...............

Now I have an email from 2 co.com telling me they tried to claim on the account and on the last ocassion the bank says this did not happen at all........so annoying!

Tried a different card from the same bank and it was the same problem. I could set up a standing order and try that? The person from the merchant bit did write but the bank say they will only allow the call centre number and that they have seen this before and it is definitely a problem with the site as they have tried to set it so they honour the charge.........and the email when replied to to the merchant bank sends back something that says that they are away for two weeks. I just do not have any other means to pay........

Just wondering if I can have details to set up a standing order or if it might work for faithwriters to delete the account and then for me to try again given this has never been a problem with this card before and I could sign up the first time. I really do need some of the critiques quite urgently now.........

Jacky, this needs to be discussed with Scott. It's all just too weird for words. I believe you can do it with PayPal, but you definitely need to talk about options with him direct. Scott rarely comes over to the boards, and he said he was investigating this situation when I sent him an email about this last week (and also said he had contacted you), but he said it definitely wasn't a problem with FaithWriters. Regardless of what the bank is saying, it would surely be happening to everyone if the problem was here.

So email Scott (you should have a reply email from him recently about this), and let him know the lastest development. No one on the boards has the ability to help you with this. Really praying it all gets sorted out fast for you.

Thanks Deb,

The email I got was not from Scott. It is as you say too wierd for words. I have a feeling it may welll be the bank but they are not website literate.....ah well will email Scott again and check if I missed any email....It would make sense if the initial payment had been refused, but it went through fine.

Finally, a payment went through. I think what was happening was the bank were putting markers on to make the payment go through, but because they were only putting them on for 24 hours then by the time the company was taking the payment the bank was refusing it again because the marker had disappeared. It seemed to sort by them marking the account for three days. So whingat is worth anyone else having the same trouble it to make sure the bank does not do anything too temporary in order to push the payment through. Though the bank still say it was not their fault...........ah well I do hope that whole scenario will not repeat next month!

My bank refuses to let the payment through unless I go in and ask them to open my account (meaning anyone who commits fraud could access it) for the relevant day....This month I made two trips to the bank and emailed checkout.com etc to tell them when to take the payment. I got no reply from anyone and the payment has not been taken. This is just getting frustrating. The bank insist they can do nothing and refuse to allow the payment through each month saying they cannot do this. Checkout.com refuses to look at why the payment flags up as a fraud - yet the bank let it through fine one month and at the beginning......I am feeling really stuck because I cannot, on my income, afford repeated trips into town. I do not live in Oxford I live in a village outside it and every time I go in it costs £4 so already this month I have spent £8 going into the bank for the sake of a £6+ payment. It would be so good if whichevers fault it is could sort this because it makes no sense at all that the payments do not go through in the first place - espescially as they do sometimes! :?
