Free audio book site

Postby Sparrow » Mon Jun 16, 2014 6:50 am

I've discovered an awesome site that has tons of public domain classics available in audio version and ebook format. I've been listening to a ton of classics I've always meant to get to, but haven't yet. It's perfect to do while laying in bed resting, while crafting, or driving.

All the readers are volunteers, so they aren't professional actors like most audio books, but I've been pleased with the sound quality, and the majority of them are quite skilled. Becoming a volunteer reader sounds fun too. You can sign up to do just one chapter or a short story, or a full book.

The site is: www.booksshouldbefree.com

What are your favorite classics or less-known old books? Some of my favorites lately are several of George MacDonald's books: Fantasties, The Princess and the Goblin and The Princess and Curdie. I also have enjoyed discovering some of Arthur Conan Doyle's other books besides the Sherlock Holmes ones I read as a teen: The Lost World and The Poison Belt.
