Whats the plan for Christmas?

Postby JesusPuppy » Mon Dec 23, 2013 12:01 pm

Traveling to, hosting at home, or a simple get together? I know bunches of you have family, and some even more family. Have you got things set up or are you acting like typical writers and procrastinating to the last minute.

Me.. I seem to have a four day holiday and nothing at all planned.

My roomies will be here and there, except Becky, though I haven't asked her what her plans are exactly. She's not happy her granddaughter was given back to her mom, Becky's troubled daughter. I'm going to Pastor Brian's house for dinner.
Somebody else at church said they went to Norm's in their pajamas every Christmas for breakfast, but though I have a decent pair of winter jammies, that's a little out of my comfort zone.

The last time I appeared in public in my pajamas was in the 60s, when we went to the drive-in movies and could play on the playground before the movie started. Lots of kids wore their pajamas, because by the time the movie was over, it was their bedtime.

Well, we're in Memphis visiting Frank's side of the family for a little over a week. We got in Friday morning after our all night drive. We're staying till Saturday evening. Then we'll have Christmas with my parents after we get home, but probably not till New Year's Day.

Our niece has a 6 month old adorable little girl (the kids and I came down to meet her in Aug.) She is SO sweet!

A couple of my favorites...

The cousins... our nephew Hunter in the back (16), and our niece Alison (18) and her baby Addyson, and then Eileen (12.5), Jolynn (3.5), and Josh (9).

And more on Facebook, with more to be added later.

More specific plans - Christmas Eve, we watch The Polar Express and have hot chocolate, in new PJs (at least the kids - we've told his mom we have plenty, we don't outgrow ours every year lol). Christmas morning, we do gifts, and read the Christmas story.

Then sometime during the day, aunts and uncles either come here, or go to either his sister or his aunt and uncle's house for the big meal. The kids play, the grownups sit around and visit/nap :)

I added more pictures to my folder on Facebook. We had a great time with family today.

Here's a 3 minute video of the kids - big and small (and one of the dogs) in a leaf fight lol.

Had brunch with my sister for Christmas morning, then went home and took a medicinal nap in the afternoon to get up the energy for Christmas dinner with other family.

Christmas not that fun with the sickie-ness

And we're home, after a 13 hour drive :) I got a kind of nap (between calls of "Mommy!!!!" from the living room). Took the rental car back, grabbed a snack and may nap some more.

Dinner at Pastor's house was great. Yesterday after church a couple that I've helped off and on this year needed my help getting stuff done--they're recovering hoarders--and I didn't get home 'til just after 9 pm. New Year's will likely entail watching the Tournament Of Roses parade and vegging out. At Pastor's house, their adopted (soon to be official) 14 year old daughter Melanie got a visit from her brother Donovan. The kids were playing on a trampoline in the backyard, and got a couple of owies. Donovan insisted that it was his fault because he was nearby when it happened, but both Pastor and his father in law Fred told him that wasn't true, don't talk like that, etc.. I understand Mel and Donovan were put in the system because their mom was a drug addict, and they may not know their dad. They've been in for most of their lives. Donovan is living with another foster family, but I think it would be great if God made a way for Pastor to be able to adopt Donovan as well. But then, they'd need a bigger house....! But since God made a way for them to get this house, well, as we all know, God can do anything!
