After having a week where the worst thing that happened was my nail clipper falling apart when I tried to use it--don't worry, I re-assembled it again--this week has been --off. First, Hotmail decided they needed to force us to obtain and use a four digit "security code" in order for us to access our email accounts. Unfortunately, they don't work. I've gotten three codes, none work. I checked their help section, and there were some people complaining about this very issue, and the CS rep had a condescending attitude, and locked the thread. I'm going to import my Hotmail contacts over the my Yahoo account, if that's the way they want it. Including this site, I've been a member of a few sites that got hacked, and the admins managed to bring the boards, etc., back without making us jump through more hoops to ensure "security". This site is the only one that asked me to change my password, and I did.
For the last few days, we've been hearing noises upstairs, when there's not supposed to be anyone there except one guy who's in the downstairs front area. The bathroom in that part of the house is upstairs. So one of my roommates called our landlady, and she said she'd be there the next day. That was Wednesday. Thursday morning, we heard noises that sounded like guys fighting and knocking someone downstairs. In our dining room there's a doorway, with a door with panes of glass in it on our side, and an old wooden door on the other side. I was standing in the dining room trying to get a fix on where exactly the noise was coming from, when all of a sudden the wooden door was removed, and there were several guys in black shining a flashlight at us--and pointing a gun at us.
"SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT! GET YOUR HANDS UP!"
Needless to say, we complied. We explained to them that this part was separate from the rest of the house, and they said, "Oh, okay, we'll put your door back." It turned out it wasn't on the hinges. But they kicked in all the doors to the five rooms upstairs. Needless to say, our landlady was NOT happy! When I came home from work and Bible study that night, I saw our landlady coming out the door of the other side. C.J. and Diane said she's cleaning and repainting the front and upstairs. Hopefully she'll do background checks on prospective tenants from now on. One of the former tenants that the cops were looking for was a drug dealer, hence the sheriff's department coming in like that.
I can't wait to get out of this county.
