Y'all must be uber busy or something...
After sleeping the rest of the night on Wednesday, I landed on a day shift schedule and so got more stuff done the last few days. We went to see Star Trek on Thursday, especially because our local theatre has $4 tickets on Tues/Thurs in the summer. It was really good. And yes, I was a Trekkie growing up, but primarily TNG. We watched the original series occasionally, but it wasn't very technically stunning. The new movies are very different, and I like the way they're reinventing the series. Apparently JJ Abrams is also going to be doing the next Star Wars movie. If this is the quality it's going to have, I *might* actually enjoy them. I'm definitely an Episode 4-6 purist.
Friday night we went to the pier and wandered around, but mostly hung out in the arcade. They have a roller coaster "ride" where you see the coaster on the screen but then your seats shake as if you were riding it.
It's $2 to play, and we did three of them. Definitely a fun way to ride a coaster and not get motion sickness. Then we ate at an Italian place for dinner. So nice to have a date night. Not that we don't spend time together regularly (Doctor Who every night I'm home now), but to actually go out and spend a little money for someone else to make dinner is nice.
Saturday afternoon we walked around the botanical gardens and watched the birds and bees and squirrels, and smelled the roses. Then as we were on the way home, the hospital called and put me on standby. Third call. So I'm still stuck at home barely making money at 3am, debating whether I'll try to sleep before church this morning. I'm playing in service, and how much sleep I get will determine which services I play at. They're also having me sing one of the songs, which is cool - I'm almost never asked to sing, but the last time Alex & Stacy led worship they overheard me harmonizing with Stacy and I ended up singing that one. So it's really nice that they asked me to sing for this service. I love playing, of course, but I've also been singing since I was a year old - way longer than I've been playing violin.
Okay, enough of my boring life.
Come out and play, will ya? Don't make me the only regular poster here.
