Let me introduce myself...my name is Marina, I'm an Irish storyteller and I love God most of all. Mom to 4 (1 boy, 3 girls) I have 2 grandsons and 2 granddaughters (one of the girls will be here in October).

I like writing short stories. I like catching folks off guard and making them think.

So, howdy y'all! Looking forward to running with sharp pointed objects.

I had to smile at your post. The first picture in my head was one of me sending you to the principal's office! Oh if I had the power to do that when some of the mischievous critters around here act up a tad! I do however, on occasion, give them THE LOOK :eyes however, I WILL LET YOU FIGURE OUT THE TROUBLEMAKERS FOR YOURSELF. with THE ONE EXCEPTION...I' M THE ANGEL OF THE BUNCH! :angel2
I'm also the one who wishes she listened to her typing teacher and watched the screen instead of my fingers. I'm also too lazy to go back and retype my cap lock fiasco. One other thing, I heard you snorting at the angel part Mister and Missy watch out or that look will be hurling across 3,000 miles and smack you in the back of the head!

Now Marina, if you're still reading and I didn't scare you off, welcome! We are a tad wacky here but it's all in good fun. You may find yourself a tad confused because just about everyone has at least one nickname so if you wonder who Fred is, Fred is Ivy Pup may sound like a nickname but I think it is even on his birth certificate! If he gets too out of hand, a rolled up newspaper works wonders. :tongue :tongue

I am super happy that you popped in and I hope to see you a lot more. If you scroll back a bit, I think I mentioned everyone's name and their quirks not too long ago. It might help you feel at home quicker if you know the members of this crazy little family. :welcome :welcome :D :D

Shann, I look forward to your monologue, as you describe how each of us is a blessing to you. You have a golden heart and a blessing to the group.

Pup, sunblock?

My new opening to my YA novel draft:

It appeared to be an ordinary June day as I sat on in the front porch, engrossed in a western novel, until a thundering noise made me jerk up. A full-sized pickup truck pulling a trailer screeched to a halt across the street. A big man stepped out and stretched. When a boy about my age jumped out of the truck my heart began to race. Oh, to have a friend right across the street! I thought.
“Dad, we’re home!” the boy hollered. He gestured for his dad. “Hurry up, Dad. I can’t wait to see my room.”

I like it Jay. I can tell you have been working on doing more showing than telling. The only thing I noticed is either put your thoughts in italics (my preference) or in quotes. It looks like an intriguing opening.

Ahh Becky, I'm sorry. I reiterate what I said in my text (But I'm too politer to put it here) but Pup is right guys can be such fools. I think it has to do with that pesky y chromosome.

Oh Pup clouds as sunblock (insert redhead smilie with purple bow in hair rolling her eyes and shaking her head) Don't you know that cloudy days are even harsher on that tender baby soft skin. Of course this is from someone who has never had a tan in her life. I'm white, get burned which turns my freckles green then I peel and am quite white again.

Well, Shan, now you've done it, Tad Wacky will definitely be the MC for my next great American story. I find him to be a dashing, mustache wearing sort of fellow who can be counted on to do the right thing every time....except he does it his own way. Kind of like Frank Sinatra, without the hat and the rat pack. Oh, and no voice, either.

Tad Wacky...to be continued.

I don't have an entry, or even an idea. What is my point...? Hummmm.. I don't have one of those either, so I guess I am pointless.

Welcome to our wacky world Marina. Don't take us too personal, normally we are... well abnormal. As to the trouble makers Shann was talking about......

No entry here either, Pup. Risk, never heard of it, did they mean adventure?
Marina, good going and Shann is very helpful, a lovely lady. Marina, the name reminds me of a favorite restaurant in Newport Beach overlooking the boat basin. Ah, sailing masts bobbing beneath blue skies and seductive sunshine. Hmmmm

Oh you will fit in here quiet nicely, my dear! I will get royalties after Tad Wacky makes it big right?

Yay! Tiara I'm doing my happy dance for you.

:party

One of these days I'm going to get all of us to submit at one time and then we are all going to give constructive feedback on each other's piece. So it wasn't meant to be for risk. I did my usual hurry up and wait until minutes before the deadline and submit. I had a grand idea in the middle of the night. I wrote a poem and the first line is one word, then 2, the 3 up to 10 words in the line, then you go backwards back down to one. The bottom half is a juxtaposition of the top. I wanted to insert it in the middle of my story in bold letters to symbolize how agoraphobia is in the middle of one's life and interrupts the flow of life but I couldn't make the spacing work out right. Maybe if I had more than a couple of hours... who coughed procrastinator? I heard that :fingerwag

So the next obvious question is who has an idea for the question topic? I bet we could all rally together and enter! Sorry that your brains dried up this week Pup and Kate but we all know it was the aliens in the basement.

Speaking of aliens... anyone here from Becky yet? I'm still thinking about you sweet girl and hope you are doing better.

So who is going to come up with a nickname for Marina? Holly, Ivy and Tiara have come up with most of the names, I think but we can't wait for Ivy to come back to us or for Kara to finish gallivanting around the world so that leaves Tiara and Pup and Becky to come up with some. I think Pup came up with Fred for Ivy and Bubbles for Holly so maybe you all can put your heads together and bump into each other! (Okay lack of sleep. It's my story and I'm sticking to it. It was all Amy's fault she kept talking all night long and she didn't even get to bed til 5:30 am HER time :tongue

Ah what a life to not know the meaning of Risk. It's a board game about war right? or is that stratego?
My topic was based on my agoraphobia. Stepping outside my little comfort zone may not seem like much of a risk to most but to me I get panic attacks, my heart starts pounding. I often talk myself out of going somewhere because I'm afraid of the pain I'll be in when I get done or sometimes there is no rational reason. I do fear having a panic attack in public. Not really keen on the idea of people seeing me rock in the corner while scratching my arms until they bleed. But for me stepping outside it's a chance I take.

I'm here.

Well... part of Marina's name, Mari- reminds me of "Merry" or happy. So maybe we can nickname her Happy!

We've all said we're the 7 dwarves (but more of us than just seven of course)

Might fit.

I like that Becky. So how do you feel about the nickname Happy? I'd call you Hap for short! Actually that's not true because I usually call the person whatever name I was introduced to them. But the other nut-jobs here...er I meant the other folks here will latch on to it! :sorry

Becky, How is today treating you? You've been on my mind a lot. I thought of you in the middle of the night when Amy and I couldn't sleep but I hoped you were sleeping between 3 and 7 so I didn't txt you.
