I was hoping that someone else would post here, so I wouldn't have to be the first to confess that I'm technically incompetent. However, there's no use putting this off, so...

I like the original photo (my little boy has a very cute smile!). It's a Kodak picture file, and my husband created a version of it that fit within the parameters required by the site... but as you can see, it lost quite a bit of resolution in the process. Is there some way of reducing the KB or pixels (or whatever the correct terminology is), while still retaining the resolution of the photo? I've seen some other photo avatars (most of them, in fact
) that look very sharp and clear.
Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated (and can probably be comprehended by my husband, at least, if not by me
