The All New Test Your Avatar Thread

Postby Deb Porter » Sat Jan 24, 2009 5:08 am

Got a new avatar picture or signature line, but don't want to go wandering around the message boards until you check to make sure it looks just right? Well this is the place for you to test things out.

So once you change your picture, come straight here and post a message. If everything looks fine, you're set to go. If it doesn't work, call for help and someone will try and help you fix things.

Love, Deb (who has had the same piccy for longer than she can remember)

I was hoping that someone else would post here, so I wouldn't have to be the first to confess that I'm technically incompetent. However, there's no use putting this off, so...

"Hi, my name is Carol, and my Avatar looks terrible."

I like the original photo (my little boy has a very cute smile!). It's a Kodak picture file, and my husband created a version of it that fit within the parameters required by the site... but as you can see, it lost quite a bit of resolution in the process. Is there some way of reducing the KB or pixels (or whatever the correct terminology is), while still retaining the resolution of the photo? I've seen some other photo avatars (most of them, in fact ) that look very sharp and clear.

Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated (and can probably be comprehended by my husband, at least, if not by me :) ).

Thanks!
Carol S.

If you want to e-mail me the original, I can see what I can do for you. I have the kodak software, and another program.

hahahahahhahahahhahahaha HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My picture was HUGE...so what am I doing wrong. I went to photo bucket uploaded my picture. It gave me 4 options. Email, direct link, html, and img link. Only one worked and it was too big. I am guessing I should choose something different in the box that says reduce size to ~ which one?

Too fat!

Postby Iam4Him » Thu Mar 26, 2009 12:36 am

No matter what image I've tried, they all come out too wide!
Most of them I've tried from my 'puter a/or Photobucket start out at 72x100 pixels or 100x72 and smaller. I've resampled, converted, uploaded, pasted-you name it!

I've tried all the links and different formats, etc. Why do they all get stretttttched to 100 pixels wide

 :? :( :?:  Yikes!

Any help?
Love & hugs,

Patty
