Below is Greta's Facebook announcement that she was planning a one-hour special about the persecution of Christians on Friday night. Oddly, no one took her to task on her Facebook page about it only being a segment. Wouldn't you think she'd have posted an explanation about why it was shortened so drastically? I went to her Fox News page and all the references to the one-hour special had been edited to "a special." Somehow that borders on dishonesty to me. But she at least gave some air time to it, unlike the major networks who have ho-hummed their way through it.

I have decided to do a LIVE one-hour special this Friday on this persecution of Christians. Please watch...and if you can't be home, DVR it now so that you don't miss it. This Friday, August 15 at 7pm eastern. DVR now!

More pics ....Christians fleeing ISIS (and these are the so called lucky ones....they have shelter - a tent - and food. THOUSANDS do not.)

Do you suppose Greta had an hour long program that got cut? I wonder if it will show up on YouTube. We don't have cable, so we have to wait for the good stuff to make it to videos.

Email I sent to Greta:

[quote]Dear Greta -

Can you tell me why your 1-hour special last Friday night about Christians being
persecuted was shortened to about 20 minutes? There was nothing new in the
content of the show; only news that we'd been getting all along from various other
sources including Fox.

I am a regular follower of your show and Emailed reminders of your upcoming
Friday night's 1-hour special to almost everyone I knew. I put notices on Facebook
before your special was broadcast. I was left with egg on my face when the show
proved to be a disappointment to nearly everyone who saw it because of its brevity.

This is the notice that you posted on Facebook about your 1-hour Special:

Greta, I'm sure there is an explanation and wonder if the Special was shortened
because of time constraints or content.

I look forward to hearing from you and want to reassure you of my continued
support of your program and your determination to find the truth.

Sincerely yours,

Are they having a FW conference this summer? I haven't heard anyone talking about it and just wondered.

There wasn't enough response. They had tentatively planned it for the last weekend in July in Chicago, but not enough people gave a positive response for them to go ahead with it. :(

Chicago is a place we avoid like the plague. The traffic is insane, 70 plus miles an hour bumper to bumper the one and only time we were stupid enough to drive anywhere near there. Never again. Perhaps a more hospitable location would attract more to a conference. Just my two cents worth. 8)

Now, if they'd look into Decorah, Iowa, I'd jump at the opportunity. I love that historic town!

I'd love to spend a night or more at this historic hotel (probably expensive, but what an experience!):

Well, that should serve to whet your appetite! When folks ask us if we'd ever move south for retirement, I say the furthest south I'd ever consider is Decorah! :lol:

On Saturday of this week my dog Betsy will celebrate her 7th birthday. Wow! It’s hard to imagine what it would be like to be 7 years old again!

She received a surprise, early birthday card, too. The envelope was addressed to "Betsy", c/o me at my address. My first thought was that Betsy must have a secret admirer - perhaps a frisky, male dog living in the neighborhood that had been eyeing her through the fence.

Inside the envelope was a humorous, but nice card wishing her a Happy Birthday. I don't think Betsy has ever received a card honoring her birthday in all of her 7 years. For sure, that card was a highlight of the day!

However, inserted in the birthday card was a small printed card from the Veterinary Clinic. The little card's message said that since she was 7 years old, she needed to begin their Senior Wellness Program.

What??? Betsy is a senior??? What’s up with that Senior Wellness Program nonsense??? No way!!! What were they thinking??? She's just an energetic puppy!!! Betsy is my puppy!!! Betsy is many years away from needing a wheelchair, false teeth, and incontinence products. AARP hasn't even begun to bug her about membership, either.

The small card went on to say that a bunch of screening tests need to be done to establish a baseline to help determine the best treatment for future health concerns. Well....the scary words, "screening tests", caused her to freak-out and hide. I don't blame her one bit. If I got one of those cards I would freak out too.

Betsy is not an "over-the-hill" senior. She's only a 7 year old puppy having a birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY!

I know how you feel, Don. My cat Tripod was a 19 year old kitten when I lost her. Okay, she'd been having a harder time getting around, and she had hyperthyroidism, but then her kidneys went out on her. I had housing issues and had a friend of mine care for her the last month of her life. I got to say goodbye and thank you for being my friend for 19 years before my friend took her to first my vet, who confirmed her terminal condition but couldn't bring himself to put her down--she was something of a celebrity there-- so my friend took her to her own vet. I couldn't be there for her.

Excuse me while I wipe the tears from my eyes. :cry:

But yes, I understand. They do need to do bloodwork to catch things like cancer, kidney issues, etc.--hyperthyroidism is rare in dogs-- because those conditions can get out of hand fast. Please take your dog to the vet for the senior wellness package. You'll be glad you did.

Wowzers!!! I made a dinner for myself last night that was so yummy I almost can't believe it! The leftovers tonight were even better!

It was Hawaiian Grilled "Huli Huli" Chicken served with an ear of sweet corn and Jasmine rice. Note: The marinade for the chicken was the secret to its great flavor. Did I say it was yummy?

Would I make it again? YES!!!

Don, love your post about your seven year old puppy. Our girl is four. The markings on her face make her look like a senior citizen, but she's not! She has a lot of white on her muzzle, which, when mixed with the black underneath, looks gray. I told her not to sweat it, though, because she gets special attention when people thinks she's old. :)

Much of my garden is beginning to give it up, but the okra is just now taking off. I'll be picking it until early October. Wish you all were closer so I could share with you.

I have some rewriting and editing to do, but wanted to stop by and say hello. Y'all behave.

You'd think by my age there wouldn't be any "firsts" left to try. Well, today was a first. I had my first ever chiropractor appointment. I LOVED it. My left shoulder has been giving me problems, and oh my did she ever go to work on it. I had to ask her if she didn't need a rest with all her hard work. She used a little gizmo on various places on the back of my neck, too, and it hasn't felt this un-tight in forever!

I think I'm going to find more excuses to visit her again. 8) She was such a good listener, too (we are on the same page about natural treatment, which added to the camaraderie). What a blessing to find!

Here ya go....

My Hawaiian Grilled "Huli Huli" Chicken.

* 1 cup packed brown sugar
* 3/4 cup ketchup
* 3/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
* 1/3 cup chicken broth
* 2 1/2 teaspoons minced fresh gingerroot
* 1 1/2 teaspoons minced garlic
* Juice from 1 can pineapple slices - set pineapple slices aside for grilling

(Note: Recipe called for above measurements, but I decreased all by half)

* In small bowl, mix the seven ingredients. Reserve 1/2 cup for basting; cover and refrigerate.

* Pour remaining marinade into re-sealable plastic bag. Cut 3-4 boneless skinless chicken breasts in half; add to marinade bag; seal and turn to coat. Refrigerate 8 hours or overnight.

* Drain and discard marinade from chicken. Coat grill rack with oil or non-stick spray.

* Grill chicken, covered, over medium heat for 6-8 minutes on each side or until no longer pink. Baste occasionally with reserved marinade during last 5 minutes.

* If desired, grill pineapple slices on foil tray coated with non-stick spray.

(Note: If grill is too hot, marinade coated chicken will stick and burn)

Enjoy!
