Thank you, sweetheart. I'm so glad I have friends to call on when I have a desperate prayer request.
"I long, O I long to be holy, conformed to His will and His Word.
I long to be gentle and Christ-like; I long to be just like my Lord."

Praising God with you, dear Mariane. Did the judge not have anything to say about the boys' long ride to school?

I've been writing and formatting a new book of fun short stories that should be ready for publishing by late summer or early fall.

The book will be a collection of fourteen of my humorous, true-life, short stories about those critters. Also, scattered throughout the book will be a dozen or so of my drawings of them - many done in cartoon form.

It will be titled, "DOGGIES, BIRDIES n BUNNIES ~ OH, MY!"

Just trying to stay busy...

Tomorrow morning (Thursday) at church I will be giving a one hour talk to the seniors at their group meeting. About 30 people will be in attendance.

They wanted me to talk about my writings, but since I have written so many, I have chosen only one as the main focus. That writing is titled, "MY LIFE'S JOURNEY WITH THE LORD."

However, along with that one I will also blend in entries from my new book, "RANDOM THOUGHTS OF MY BRIDE."

~ ~ ~

Then, if that isn't enough, I have been asked to speak for 30 minutes to the church's Classics Class this Sunday following our church service. About 100 people will be there to hear that one.

My topic will be a much shorter version of tomorrow's talk.

My scheduled one hour talk went very well this morning. Twenty five people were there to hear. I finished in 53 minutes, then, there were some questions asked.

As it turned out, it was visibly emotional for a couple of people. One man and one woman were wiping tears from their eyes. Four others came up to me afterward to share privately.

One lady said she didn't know how I was able to get through the talk without my tears flowing while speaking and sharing such a personal topic.

I have one more to do for about 100 people on Sunday, but that will only be 30 minutes long. It will generally be on the same topic, but will be a condensed version.

So sorry I missed the prayer circle and the court room doings. No FW email notices for the Porch, again, after the one that slipped through last week. But, today, I'm suddenly inundated with several emails alerting me to private messages that have been accumulating for months!

I am glad to join in praises for God's working through human hearts, however, most certainly; also for your sharing opportunities and blessings, Don!

While sorting through accumulated mail, etc., I ran across something you may be interested to check, Don. One of my special friends suggested the website to me after she purchased an artist's book done this way. When the dust settles (literally) around my house, I may pull a bunch of my stories together to give it a try, too.

Here's the link: http://www.blurb.com/self-published-books

You can do as few as one (a true collector's prize), or lots more. I think I even ran across mention of printing on demand, so a person isn't left with boxes of books to stash somewhere until a seller is found.

Don, I'm so glad the Lord is using you at your church. I still remember the video I saw of you speaking to a men's group one Saturday morning and how good your presentation was. It's so good now that Carol is with the Lord, that you have writing and speaking abilities that God can use and with your willingness to do so, and your free time to work on them (and not be involved with the demands of the kinds of companies you used to own and have to worry about), makes it even better!

Hi Edy. I thought of you today when I saw a video online of a little giggling baby sitting on his father's lap. Cutest thing. I was going to forward the link to you (it was from a Christian website) but I deleted it before I could copy it for you.

I've had such a busy day today and thankful for the strength God gives me to do some things that badly needed to be done. John and my niece, Debbie, are pushing me to gather all my new material for my 3rd book but it seems like a mountain of work. I self-published the first two but Verna has just about talked me into using a publisher this time. Not the agent route and all that but just give It all to a publisher and let them do all the editing, design a great cover and do a terrific printing of it, then finally putting it on Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble and other major bookstores. I wish I were younger and stronger. I did get two more stories submitted to the Chicken Soup for the Soul series today, though. I still have two more to submit--one about our something our mothers did for us and the second one about the power of forgiveness. I can always use the $200 check for each story they print, too. I think so far I've had 4 published in their series. I read that they had published 250 books in the Chicken Soup for the Soul series.

Heading for the bed. Reason? I'm dead. (tired, that is)

Don, it sounds like you are doing very well at staying busy. It's nice that you have a God give talent to share with your church members.

Verna and Mariane, can you tell me a little bit more about the publishing process you have used, or are going to use? If you aren't going through an agent, is it self publishing with a publisher? I hope that made sense. Any info either of you want to share would be great. I am not sure what I am going to do with future books after I complete my trilogy. I'm working on book 3 at the moment, and will put it on Amazon as an ebook. Beyond that, I might want to do something different.
