BeachGrandma wrote:Deejay, did you say 4 (F.O.U.R.) of you sleep in the back bedroom or was this a typo? Maybe the room is the size of an army barracks, that could explain it. Or maybe you have 2 sets of bunk beds which would save on floor space. This would require a great deal of compromise and consideration of each other to put four women in one bedroom, but hey, growing up we had 9 people in a 3 bedroom house, so since Mother and Daddy had the front bedroom, 7 of us kids slept in 2 bedrooms. Luckily, we were spread out in age so by the time my baby brother was born, a couple of the older ones were on their way out. Frankly, as next to the youngest, I loved sleeping with my older sisters all the time. They told great ghost stories, as did my mother, reading as she did from James Whitcomb Riley children's books which scared us half to death but we still wanted to hear them. Anyway, you have a great opportunity to witness for Jesus, a sort of "Go into all YOUR world and preach the gospel..." Have you ever had to ask one of the women to leave for any reason? And are 7 in your half a house the most you've ever had? I find all this so interesting.
Here comes John with my supper!
Love all you guys.

Christmas in Canada
Christmas in Canada is a special time. The nights are long but our hearts are warm and the lights are bright. We want your true stories that took place at Christmas time - specifically in Canada - whether you are Canadian, a resident of Canada, or a visitor to Canada. We want to hear about your celebrations and special times but please remember to keep your stories "Santa safe" so we keep the magic alive for our younger readers. And keep that Canadian spelling in your computer, eh? We are defining Christmas as the entire December holiday season and the New Year festivities too. The deadline for story and poem submissions is May 30, 2014.
Stories ABOUT Moms
We are collecting stories written by sons and daughters of all ages about their moms and stepmoms of all ages. Tell us what your mom has done for you. Is she always right? Do you still turn to her for advice? How has your relationship changed as you've gotten older? Is your mom a grandmother to your own children now? Share your best stories-ones that will make us laugh, cry, or nod our heads in recognition. We are not looking for general tributes (we know your mom is terrific) nor are we looking for biographies. We are looking for specific anecdotes about you and your mom or stepmom. The deadline for story and poem submissions is September 30, 2014.
Stories about the Christmas Season
Our holiday books are very popular. We do a new edition every other year and so we are now collecting stories for our Christmas 2015 book. Share your special stories about the holiday season - including Chanukah and Kwanzaa - from inspirational and joyous, to heartwarming and humorous. Remember all of the stories in our Christmas books are "Santa Safe" - we don't want to spoil the magic for children. The deadline for story and poem submissions is August 30, 2014.
Stories BY Moms
Every mom has great stories to tell, about the good days, the bad days, the funny times, and the heartwarming moments. Share your story with other moms - whether you're a new mom with a baby, a multitasking mom with teenagers or college students, or a seasoned mom with grandchildren. Share those anecdotes from your life that illustrate what it means to be a mom or a stepmom. Make us smile, laugh, tear up, or nod our heads in recognition. The deadline for story and poem submissions is September 30, 2014.
The Power of Forgiveness
Have you ever noticed how forgiving someone frees you to move on with your life? It can be a major decision though, especially if you feel you were seriously wronged. For the "New Year New You" 2015 season we plan to publish a book about the power of forgiveness. Let us know how forgiving someone changed your life. It can be something small like forgiving a rude driver who cut you off, or it can be something big like forgiving someone who caused a major negative event in your life. How did forgiving someone change your life in a positive way? Were you able to reestablish a relationship after forgiving? Did letting go of your hurt feelings heal you and bring you a sense of peace? Help others find the same resolution by sharing your story. The deadline date for story and poem submissions is June 30, 2014.
Touched by an Angel
We are looking for stories from people who believe that they have encountered or been helped by angels. How did your angel manifest himself or herself? How did your angel help you or someone you know? Please do not send stories about people who are "angels" because they do nice things, and also please do not submit eulogies where you say that your loved one is now an angel. The deadline for story and poem submissions was March 31, 2014 but it has been extended to MAY 30, 2014.
