But I am doing my usual thing....it's become a family expectation...Grandma with her dyslexic mouth.

Today I told them God know the numbers of heads on each hair.

What can I say?

Well, each hair has a follicle ~ and that can be considered its head . . . that's how I would have recovered from that one

It would be hard to find a song I had not heard. I love the hymns and Gospels songs so much. That is a beautiful one, Carol. I know how much you enjoy the grandkids. They are so dear to our hearts!(Just ask Mariane!)

It's my sweetheart's birthday today. Then next week it will be our anniversary (54 years!!) This week is the excitement of a grandson's wedding. Life is scooting right along! Thank God for His blessings!

Wow, Verna, you have a big week! 54 years! Congratulations! We will celebrate 45 years two days after Marty's birthday next month.

The kids are gone and God once again answered prayer by giving me enough energy. He is so good to me! I am exhausted now but we've had a very, very busy weekend that I know I could not have gotten through on my own. It was so important to have special time together. We all needed it.

Shoot! I wish I had thought to get pictures!

Carol, I hadn't heard (I live in a different area of the state), so I just googled it. It took place at a Sikh temple. Seven were killed, including the suspected gunman and three are in critical condition. Very sad.

The preacher preached yesterday about the darkness we face and the realization that Jesus in the light, and we are His light bearers. So sad --whereever there is violence. So many do not know the Lord. As the violence grieves us, how much more it must grieve Him.

Carol, your "blondness" gave me a smile.

Debby, I hope your settling in is going smoothly. Wish you were my neighbor--I'd help!

Mariane, your picture of your niece on FB is so inspiring. She has such a beautiful smile as she serves the Lord in Africa.

Well, Jackson now has his own laptop so that will free one of our computers. LOL . John is so busy on his computers recruting for our son's tour business for next spring that he was having to juggle time with Jackson who plays games on John's computers with his friends. Jackson is a happy camper today.

I haven't had time to read the previous pages on the porch but will do so today. Two little boys want their breakfast.

Check with you all later.

Glad for Jackson to have his own computer, Mariane!

Thinking of you today, Laurie, and praying the Lord covers some of your sadness with joy.

Often times when we think we are having a bad day, we find out there are others who have it much worse. This is what I learned yesterday...

In late June a friend who we see only about once a year, but have known for 45 years, found out he had cancer that is present in his colon, kidneys, and lung. That is a massive spread from the original site...wherever that might have been. Note: He had "successful" treatment for prostate cancer about 8-9 years ago, but that might have been the point of origin for the current cancers.

On July 3rd while waiting to be admitted into the Mayo Clinic for the new cancer surgery, he was helping a friend launch a large boat. Something went terribly wrong during the boat launch. Somehow he got his leg and foot caught between the trailer frame, the boat, and the wheel while the trailer was being backed into the lake. His leg bones between the knee and ankle were crushed, plus, three bones in his foot were broken. Only flesh and skin were keeping his foot attached. He had emergency surgery which required a stay for several days at a local hospital. Healing will take months or longer, plus PT.

Two weeks ago the Mayo Clinic admitted him for the major cancer surgery, which was finally done last week. I don't know any more except that he needs the Lord in his life, too.

He wasn't just having a bad day...he had a bad 4 weeks.

Uff da! Don - your poor friend! If you can share his first name, I'll put him on our prayer-links at church, too. For sure, we just never know what others - or even ourselves, down the road - could be enduring at any given time.

A niece posted on facebook: "One of the simplest ways to stay happy is...letting go of the things that make you sad...." which reminded me of a decades old song that I continue to cherish. (Do you "vintage" friends remember Evie, the little singer from Norway? I actually got to hear her in person when she was in Minnesota, way back when.) Here's what I commented on the post:

Give them all to Jesus!
My dad often told us to lay ALL on the altar (from the time we were little). Then, when God gives us something back, we'll be able to discern His will as opposed to our own. What a richly rewarding way to live this life!

Thanks Edy. Our 70 year old friend's name is Jerry.
