It did work! :)
Those are some dramatic photos, GL, illustrating God's handiwork.

I can't remember if I posted here or not about my neighbor, Alice, needing open heart surgery. She had it this morning, was out of surgery by 10:30 a.m., and they were able to remove the tumor without needing to replace the heart valve where it was located.
Praise the Lord! Praying now for an uncomplicated recovery, comfort and strength.

I just received this urgent prayer request from my niece Angie (OB doctor) in Shanghai:
I wrote to my mom and wanted to write to you as well about a rather urgent prayer need here. My mom will probably call you but in short, it involves praying for a young couple (she is 7 months pregnant) who have been told their baby has a terrible kidney defect by the local hospital, and are considering abortion...they are a local couple and wanted to only see me yesterday, I spent nearly all afternoon with them counseling them that their baby is otherwise perfect there is just one kidney that has only a few small cysts and everything else is perfect, I was nearly in tears and pleading with them not to do anything drastic. They did agree to come back for follow up with me tomorrow, I pray they do come back and keep their child, but I know external forces are pressuring them to do otherwise...could you please pray for them? I can't get on the VPN right now and can't send a message to Kara via Facebook and was wondering if you could have her pray as well.

Thank you Auntie Eda, I am so thankful for you.

Thank YOU, praying porch pals - your support means so much!

Here is a link to the video that my son and his friend made for Honor English class. It is kind of goofy.

You have wearied the LORD with your words.
“How have we wearied him?” you ask.
By saying, “All who do evil are good in the eyes of the LORD, and he is pleased with them” or “Where is the God of justice?”

Thank you, GreenLeaves, from me and Angie. I got the request out to our congregation's prayer links and to extended family members by email. On facebook nearly a dozen people have responded that they are praying, too. In prayer, we send our guardian angels "on loan" to make a hedge around this little family, to hold back the forces trying to pressure them to destroy their baby. Thus protected, individuals are in a quiet place, minus the static, where the still small Voice can be heard. Thanks be to God!

That was quite a production your son and his friend put together!

Edy, I had put together a poem just recently on this topic:

I received this as an email today, thot it worth passing on.

Food for Thought

I had never thought about this...

A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion.

There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin.

Allow me to restate that number: Over the last several months, Wisconsin's hunters became the eighth largest army in the world. That is one out of 50 states?

More men under arms than in Iran.

More than France and Germany combined.

These men deployed to the woods of a single American state, Wisconsin, to hunt with firearms, and no one was killed.

That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania (where I used to live - and hunt) and Michigan's 700,000 hunters, all of whom have now returned home safely.

Toss in the 250,000 hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the concept that, the hunters of those four states, alone, would comprise the largest army in the world. And then add in the total number of hunters in the other 46 states. It's millions more.

The point?

America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower.

Hunting...
It's not just a way to fill the freezer.
It's a matter of national security.

***************************************
That's why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see us disarmed.

Food for thought, when next we consider gun control.

Have A Great Day!

------------------------------------
Overall it's true, so if we disregard some assumptions that hunters don't possess the same skills as soldiers, the question would still remain...what army of 2 million would want to face 30, 40, 50 million armed citizens?

(IF YOU AGREE, AS I DO, PASS IT ON, I FEEL GOOD THAT I HAVE AN ARMY OF MILLIONS WHO WOULD PROTECT OUR LAND AND I SURE DON'T WANT THE GOVERNMENT TAKING CONTROL OF THE POSSESSION OF FIREARMS)

For the sake of our freedom, don't ever allow gun control or confiscation of guns.

"To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical."

Very good article, Carole. Thanks for sharing it.

I was saddened today to hear that The Cypress Times is closing as of June 30. I think there are others of you, in addition to Laurie and I, who have been writing for them.

I have a question. Do any of you have long term care insurance? Marty is thinking we need to be looking into this and I would like some input.

I have a second question for the ladies. I have neuropathy in my feet and am needing some dress shoes. Can anyone recommend a brand that is extremely comfortable?

I just bought a pair of Teva sandals that are comfortable but looking for something comfortable for dressier occasions.

GreenLeaves - I do have LTC insurance. What I looked for was a policy that included good coverage for in-home care (mine has - I think off the top of my head - 70% of nursing-home coverage for care in the home). And, I opted for paying a higher premium, initially, in order to keep from having increases later. The earlier a person enrolls, the lower the premiums.

As for shoes, "Crocs" spoiled me for anything else! I've never had anything as comfortable. I did find some that look a bit dressier for Sunday wear. Zappos, online, may be where I found a good selection.
