Maybe I have mentioned this before, but I have been pondering Job...particularly the way God allowed Job's bodily afflictions resulting in glorifying God. Job could not understand why all that was taking place and no doubt felt of little value during that time. Yet his story has had tremendous impact to the suffering through the ages.
As I look at those around me who are enduring so much, our own dear Mariane, Don's Carol, Jess, Marty's young neice with ongoing cancer struggles, and others. They too probably have no idea how much encouragement they bring to our lives. By their attitudes and witness, they are bringing glory to God.
When you add in those going through so many other struggles, as many of you are, it should be apparent that God is using each one to bring glory to Him...because through it all you still trust God. There is no reason to feel discouragement or shame for what you can no longer do, because you still are fulfilling your purpose by glorifying God by your life in the midst of the struggles.
I don't know about you, but I know of very few who are not struggling in one way or another. Your lives, your continuing faith in God, brings hope to all who observe your life. I thank God that in the life of the Christian, He can even use the "bad" in our lives to minister to others. Nothing is wasted.
I guess this is where this poem came from:
GOD WASTES NOTHING
Carol A. Penhorwood
I thank you, Lord, not for the pain
But that Your love redeems.
I know that I must walk though this
As heavy as it seems.
But when I think I can't go on,
The pain is so intense,
It's then You whisper in my soul,
"Of this I will make sense."
This too You'll use to help someone,
In this I'll give You praise.
I'll gladly bear the price of pain
If this Your hand displays.
For in my weakness You are strong,
This pain is not in vain,
For You waste nothing in my life,
Myself and others gain.
So though I ask for healing,
I want Your plan far more,
For in the center of Your will
There's peace forevermore.
