I Can't See What Everyone Else Can See! Help!

Post by Deb Porter »

Have you ever gone to the Writing Challenge page to see the latest topic, and it's still showing the one from the week before?

Or maybe you want to read the latest list of entries, but it's still showing the "No new topic this week" message.

This sort of thing happens to almost everyone now and then, not just at FaithWriters but also at other sites on the Internet. If it happens to you, don't panic--you've probably got a batch of stale cookies.

Yes, you read that right. It's probably your cookies. Not the yummy kind that make your clothes shrink, but the computer ones that record little bits of information and store them up on your computer to be helpful later.

Cookies remember regularly visited pages so your browser will open and display the page faster. That's very thoughtful, don't you think? Except when the page changes and the cookies are sitting down enjoying a glass of milk and chat around the hard drive.

Never fear though. You just need to make some new cookies, and that's as easy as going to the page that's stuck in the past and clicking "refresh." Sometimes it may take a couple of times for the refresh to throw out those old cookies, but usually one click will do the trick.

So if one day everyone starts talking about the awesome picture on the front page of FaithWriters, and you can't see it, just go to that page and click refresh and all should be revealed. (But don't bother trying it now because there isn't really any awesome picture on the front page--honest.)
