Our friends finally have permanent custody (all done but the adoption paperwork!!!!) for their foster babies!!! It's been almost 2 years since they were placed with them. The parents finally decided to move back to California, where their first 4 children are in Grandma's custody, and give up rights on the three children here (the 7th is with another foster mom).
When our friends went to the final hearing, the judge made it VERY clear to the attorney that she was NOT happy with the games they had been playing to delay the custody and his attitude. He said things like, "How do you know they left? Have you talked to them there? Maybe you're lying to us." The judge asked him, "How do you know? Have you talked to them? Did they tell you why they weren't here?" He was pretty sheepish when he responded no.
So these two beautiful babies have a normal, safe, stable home, instead of one where there is drug use (the mom tried to give a weave for her hair drug sample), and where the dad got stabbed at a visitation (the judged was stunned to learn about that).
Now to get them a gift of some sort to celebrate! We got them a gift certificate for Christmas (when it looked like they'd have them a lot sooner than this) for a family photo session. I'm sure they've already used it by now lol.
Now to pray that they all get saved (they grew up Catholic and are now atheists).
