I have no idea what this omni... word means and came here looking for the answer! So, no help to you. Sorry.
An educated guess - well just a guess before I find out what it really means, but I'm guessing it means a mega-shambles, or things are in a big mess. However, that's a guess and I'm looking forward to being enlightened about its real meaning. Ellen

There's a link under the word on the Writing Challenge home page. Click the link to be taken to the definition of the word and its usage in a sentence.

All of this quarter's words or phrases have a link; they are all new additions to the Oxford English Dictionary.

Sorry, I missed that link...Where is the writing challenge home page?

But I did go look it up after I wrote my post and it said:

-Something that is very badly organized and is ineffective in every possible way
God Bless the beasts and the children
Give them shelter from the storms.
Children are our tomorrow
Keep them daily from the sorrow
Of the beasts in life

I, too, need a link to the link...couldn't find it. :D But the results of my Google search was this definition:

Omnishambles
"Something which is completely and continuously chaotic, disorganized, or mismanaged."

When I think of "Omni," omnipresent comes to mind...everywhere and in everything present.
The Thesaurus also includes the word "pervasive" as a substitute for "omnipresent.

In combining the two ideas, one could describe the meaning as something which is ever present, pervasive, disorganized, and mismanaged that causes chaos.

I hope I'm on the "write" track. :D

Okay guys. Can I suggest you wait until I post about the topic here in the forums each week. Just to avoid everyone getting confused.

I'm surprised you don't know where the Challenge main page is, though. It's in every first post about the topics that I post. I also thought that was where most people found out about the topic each week. It has the time countdown on it as well.

Anyway, all the topics this quarter have definition links under the topic, but as I said, don't panic if you don't get the topic. Wait for me to post a main thread and all will be revealed.

And if in doubt, Google. Every topic this quarter is in the Oxford Dictionary.

The Writing Challenge home page is where they show the topic for each week. Where have you been finding it, if not there? Very curious...

I usually find it on the Writing Challenge General Discussions Thread. It wasn't there when I checked. So I have a red face for not waiting for Deb to post it there.

Please forgive...

Oh, nothing to forgive. My question was actually directed at tomoral, who said she didn't know where the Writing Challenge Home page was. I'm wondering how she finds the topic every week, and how she enters the challenge, without going through the home page. Just really puzzled.

Same here, Lillian. No apologies needed at all. You can post anything you want. It's probably just a little less confusing to wait. :D

Forgive me as well. Now, I know what you mean about the Challenge home page. I wasn't thinking of that one! My mind is slow these days.

Anyway, I was just trying for a little humor when I asked about Omnishambles. It's such a funny sounding word.

Blessings! Lynn
