Week 7 Topic - AT WIT'S END

Postby Deb Porter » Fri Feb 14, 2014 10:12 pm

You know those times when you've tried absolutely everything you can think of, but it's not working? (Think computers, kids, recipes, novel writing, etc.) Well, that's when you've reached this week's topic:

AT WIT'S END
http://www.faithwriters.com/writing-challenge-intro.php

Been there? Done that? Bought the T-shirt? Then this topic is for you.

As always this quarter, do with the topic whatever you desire, as long as the main focus of your entry relates to someone being "At Wit's End" in some way.

You can go with the literal meaning:

1. at the limits of one's mental resources. I'm stumped. I can't think of a single thing to write about for this week's Challenge. Why does that Deb Porter do this to me?

(Feel your pain, guys. Why do you think I coordinate instead of enter?)

OR

2. so upset with a situation that you don't know what to do.

Interestingly enough, the saying has a a Biblical origin:

Psalms 107:27 (King James Version): They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits' end.

(Leave you to look it up for the context.)

Or you can be extra creative and play around with the words. It's up to you. Just make it obvious that it is mainly about the topic in some way.

Have fun, and feel free to chat about the topic here.

Love, Deb

All I know is I'm at my wit's end trying to figure out why I haven't been able to enter the challenge for yet ANOTHER quarter.

I went way out of the box for this one and am already nervous.

Ohhhh I have an idea. I'm a bit nervous about it though because people might think it's Noel's! :tongue Wait that didn't come out right, uhm what I really meant is people might think that my pun is outside of the box. Oh no, no, no I mean well I mean...I guess you'll have to wait and see what I mean if I decide to write it. Right now I'm a tad bit crazy with just the thought. I guess one might say I'm at my wit's end. Of course one might say that at any given point in time/

Shann must be going punny this week.

Good on you for experimenting out of your comfort zone, Toni. That's what the Challenge is all about.

I did have a punny idea, Deb, but I forgot it! FW be warned, procrastination can be... Oh I'll tell you tomorrow.

I say Toni, go for it. I have a feeling if you are out of the box, look to your left and you'll see me out there too.

Well, here at the end of Wednesday night, I have 29 word written on Idea #1, and 109 words of Idea #2. And I'm not fond of either one. Very weak. I'm trying too hard to nail the topic and it shows. But I haven't gone to bed yet, so you never know.....

Oh, who am I kidding.

Come on Cat. Image Who needs sleep (highly overrated in my opinion).

Seriously, though, just relax and enjoy the process. Sounds like your over thinking things. Just look at it as playing with words and being creative. Have fun with it.
