Formatting Frustration

Postby WarmPuppy » Thu Mar 14, 2013 10:14 am

Hi,
I have a lot of questions about the writing challenge, but here are two:

1. How do you submit a writing challenge and have it look exactly formatted on this site as it was on my word processing program? (LibreOffice) My husband is a computer guy, and last night we sat up late trying to figure out how to get my entry to double space. We tried a direct copy and paste, and also converted it to a .txt document, which made it look even worse in the preview screen. My double spacing issue is one piece of feedback that I have been getting, so this technical glitch is extremely frustrating. The only thing that keeps me going is that God is using this for some purpose :D
2. When someone leaves a comment, is it okay to contact them directly with quesstion or leave a comment on your own entry, after the winners have been announced? I am still trying to learn FW etiquette.

Okay..have three questions while I am here...

3. I have not ventured out of the non-fiction genre, and most of my challenge submissions have a very distinct subject matter that I have been writing about. Does this take away the anonymity? Is that bad?

Thanks for your help! :thankssign

The only thing that keeps me going is that God is using this for some purpose :D Double-spacing is not at all required in the challenge - but two spaces between paragraphs DEFINITELY helps - and I'd venture to guess that that is what folks were asking you about. If you do two "enters" after each paragraph, it should work. All the formatting for the challenge needs to be done by html as opposed to the automatic formatting - check out this forum for information on that.
2. When someone leaves a comment, is it okay to contact them directly with quesstion or leave a comment on your own entry, after the winners have been announced? I am still trying to learn FW etiquette. You can ask a question directly whenever you want - though not everyone has private messenger. In general, leaving a comment on your own entry will not "get the message" to the original commenter, because most folks don't go back and read comments on articles they've already commented on
