The Greeks

Postby Millardrh » Sat Sep 16, 2017 12:22 pm

The Greeks

The world converged on Jerusalem
the Passover Feast at hand,
Campfires dotted the hillsides,
flocks of lambs stood by.

Wild rumors spread in each language--
a Rabbi had raised the dead!
Eyewitnesses spoke in the Temple,
some even called him Messiah.

The things they heard of the Master,
caused yearning deep
In their hearts. The Greeks wished
to know more of this man.

"Sir, we would see Jesus," they said
to Philip that day,
Seekers of truth they had traveled far,
to worship the one true God.

Jesus' soul was troubled; the Son
of Man's time had come,
Yet, here were Gentiles ready to hear--
their hearts open to faith.

Be spared from this hour--and save
the few?...or be lifted up
For all men's sake, the cause for
which he had come--

"My Father," said Jesus, "glorify
thy name."

John 12:21
