A Boy

Postby Millardrh » Sat Mar 11, 2017 5:33 pm

A Boy

The droning of endless prayers,
smoke from the altar fires,
Murmur of trade in the Gentile's court--
a boy...forsaken, alone.

Learned ones drew him aside--"Now, my
boy...how, boy?" How could
He know these things? Profoundly,
the lad held forth.

Surely his parents were godly folks,
from Galilee they hailed,
Scriptures he knew by heart--for the
deeper meanings he sparred.

"Messiah comes," the boy assured them,
the longed-for one is nigh,
The throne of David his to claim--
Jehovah's work he'd finish.

This is powerful and different. I really like it.
