I use Open Office for my word processor and then convert my document to a Word document if I'm sending it to anyone. Is that what you are asking, Buck? I don't use any creative writing or organizing program yet.

I also use Open Office, but have heard REALLY, REALLY good things about Scrivener. Have thought of looking into it numerous times, but never got around to it.

I use Open Office. It's free, and as Rachel said, you can convert it to Word when you send it. Works very well. I also use Grammarly for punctuation and spell checks. It's about 29.00 a month.

My father-in-law and a member of my crit group have these programs that help you develop the storyline and do charts and stuff but I can't think of what they are called. Maybe Writeboards? Here is a link on some of them: http://www.dailywritingtips.com/writing-software/

Personally, I don't think I'd like them. I prefer a pen and paper.

Yes that's what I mean. They have different headings, including one I believe on writing advice. It sounds like a great fit. If you wanted it to maybe be seen by more people, you could start a new thread in the Open Forums section of the message boards or do a combination of posting on the Regular Submission and then start a thread with a link. If you post the article in the submission section vs the forums, it'll be listed under your writer's profile. :D

I usually use ol' Word 97 on my laptop, or Word 2003 on my main computer. I can dual boot to Linux on both machines. One day I'll make the switch permanently and use Libre Office.

I use OpenOffice, but I also bought the Snowflake program awhile back when it was majorly on sale. I haven't played with it much though and haven't put it on my new laptop yet.

I have Word 2007 on my Desktop, and Word 2010 on my laptop. I've used Open Office, but since I have MS Office on my computer at work, I got a little spoiled to the additional features it has over Open Office.

(Open Office is comparable to one of the older versions of MS Office)

I used to use Open Office, but I've recently made the switch to Libre Office and I love it. I tried Scrivener, but I wasn't really ready to start a novel-length project at the time, so it didn't really work for me, but I would definitely try it again.

I've used Snowflake Pro for organization and that works pretty well with the way I lay things out.

Hey, Glynis :) What is better about Libre Office as compared to Open Office? Inquiring minds want to know :D
