Re: Pacific Coast Rest-Stop

Thanks, Shann, for the congratulations and all the cool dancing dudes. Made me smile! :D For the last few days, we've been hearing noises upstairs, when there's not supposed to be anyone there except one guy who's in the downstairs front area. The bathroom in that part of the house is upstairs. So ...

Re: Pacific Coast Rest-Stop

After having a week where the worst thing that happened was my nail clipper falling apart when I tried to use it--don't worry, I re-assembled it again--this week has been --off. First, Hotmail decided they needed to force us to obtain and use a four digit "security code" in order for us to access ou...

Re: Pacific Coast Rest-Stop

Oh, man, what a day I had yesterday! After church, a couple for whom I do work for from time to time--Tommy and Michelle--had me working for them yesterday. They're getting their condo remodeled to prepare it for sale, and they have been at each other's throats. Stress plus baggage, ya know. They've...

Re: Pacific Coast Rest-Stop

The largest earthquake in California history was estimated to be a 7.8, I believe, that struck in 1857. There was only one fatality, when a woman was killed in the collapse of an adobe building. Needless to say, population was sparse back then. The USGS site has lots of information on the subject of...

Re: Pacific Coast Rest-Stop

About the only places in the world with no recorded quakes are Vietnam and Korea. Wanna live there? I don't. On average, here in California we get a major quake about every 25-50 years, and a catastrophic one every 75-100 years. I'll take my chances.

Re: Pacific Coast Rest-Stop

Those of you in SoCal may have felt a slight shaking after 9 p.m. last night. We had a 5.1 earthquake near La Habra, with some aftershocks. Near the epicenter, I've heard reports of a water main breaking, items thrown down from store and restaurant shelves, and even 100 people being displaced. It wo...

Re: Pacific Coast Rest-Stop

Yeah, $125 is a bit much for Saturday only for the writer's conference. Great that it's local; probably only a bus ride away. When's the deadline?

Re: Pacific Coast Rest-Stop

When and where, and how much does it cost, is the So Cal Christian Writer's conference? If it's on a Sunday, Thursday or Friday, no can do; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday, we'll see.

Re: Pacific Coast Rest-Stop

Hi Rich, I'm deejay, though it's okay to write it DeeJay or Deejay. I'm a janitor at my church, and yesterday when it rained we got to discover where all the building leaks were! I have two poems on here in my siggy, I'm more of a prose person, though. I'm working on getting a copy of the ...

Re: Pacific Coast Rest-Stop

We've had other break-ins at church, but this is the first time something was taken. The guardian angels must've been asleep on the job. Pastor said Sunday a couple in our church had their car broken into, and their birth certificates, Social Security cards, and rent check were taken. They went to t...

Re: Pacific Coast Rest-Stop

Apparently when I listed the things that could happen, I left out "break in". Came to work Thursday, and as I was filling my mop and brush buckets, I looked up and saw a window in our fireside room was broken. I went into the kitchen and looked in from there, and the flat screen TV on the wall was m...

Re: Pacific Coast Rest-Stop

Normally I'm at the library Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, but yesterday there was a bit of a crisis at home. I was about to leave when my roomies C.J. and Diane informed me that Diane's sister had called, saying so was in so much pain that she was crying, and she's not a crier. So they went to ...
