Where did that thread on.... go? Where are some of my posts?

After a certain amount of time, if a thread hasn't been replied to (unless made sticky) it will be deleted from the forum.

Be sure to save any posts you make that you want archives of for yourself, especially if it's an article, story or poem that you typed directly to the forum :)

What is Hinting or Hint Day?

I made a separate FAQ for hint day, since some people don't realize it's connected to the weekly challenge :) What is hinting? There are a few days lag time between when the entries are finished being judged, and when the results are displayed and names are put on entries. During this time we play a...

What are the different Rights in publishing?

What are the different “rights” that a publisher might ask about (ie first rights, all rights)? There are some of the basics (if anybody knows of others, please PM me and I'll add them) All Rights: If you offer a publisher all rights, then they will own the article or manuscript. If they accept it a...

Is everything I post on FW is considered “published"?

Is it true that everything I post on FW is considered “published”? Yes. Anything that appears on a public site, whether that be a blog, a public message board, the FaithWriters site, or something else, is considered published, in the strictest sense of the word. Many publishers will not care if the...

The Word Count Crises

The word count for the weekly challenge is from 150-750 words. Your article will be removed from the challenge if it does not fall within those guidelines. As long as you do a word count through a program like MS Word, it will be OK. A SLIGHT cushion is given on the word count, but it is only to all...

How do I do those cool little white boxes to quote someone?

Go to the post you would like to quote and hit the “quote” button in the top right corner of the post. It will open a new post window with the quoted words. You may edit the quote, but be sure not to take away the coding. You can also quote manually by typing: [quote]the text you want to quote[/quot...

How do I post a picture on the boards?

Yes. You can use Photo Bucket or another hosting place, and then paste the url in your post with [ (minus the spaces in the coding). Please follow the same rules listed under “custom avatars”. When that opens, click on the PROFILE tab. From that page, select the EDIT AVATAR option from the menu on the left. You can then e...

What's with the pencils?

It's just a fun thing FW gave us to help keep track of our number of posts. For each 50 to 100 posts, the pencil grows one hole. At 500 posts the pencil turns orange and stops growing. Moderators have green or black pencils. You may hear us joke about “pencil envy”. ;) And Deb (breathfreshair) has a...

There are two systems of Private Messages (PMs) on FaithWriters. On the regular FW site, you must pay a small fee to access your PMs. You may send PMs for free and do not need to be a FW member to send them. Subscription to the PM service comes free with Gold and Platinum memberships. More informati...
